Emergency Service Dispatchers’ and 911 Awareness Week

The work of the emergency service dispatchers is some of the most important in our city, they are the ones who take care of us, ensuring that help is but a call away. Working tirelessly to engage the serious problems of our society we put a lot of trust into the decisions of the dispatchers.
When we dial 911, our calls are answered by a telecommunications operator who’s role is to figure out what emergency service you require, they ask us as many questions as possible to ascertain the situation and to make the decision that will be of greatest benefit, whether we need the police, fire or ambulance services, they know who to call.

Their role in society is often unnoticed, and that is why must be aware of these people who uphold public safety in a different way than we imagine.
