BC Arts and Culture Week

April 20-26 is BC arts and Culture week, celebrating the diversity we have in our province of British Columbia. Hundreds of communities, schools and art groups with have the spotlight to showcase their vital contributions to the collective culture of British Columbia.

Every year in the last week of April, schools and communities across British Columbia host an array of events and activities that are sure to amaze as part of BC Arts and Culture week focusing on vital contributions in art and culture that further the mental development through music, films, media arts, dance, books, theatre and visual arts.

The Province of BC through the British Columbia Arts Council bring the gift of art, inviting all British Columbians to join the celebration by participating in local Arts and Culture Week events.

Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Month

 

The Canadian Cancer society focuses on cancer prevention, information, support, advocacy and research in hopes that one day, cancer will no long be a problem in our society. Founded by the Saskatchewan medical association in 1929, this group has been here to educate Canadians about the early warning signs of cancer so that is may be easier prevented and treated. The Society funds cancer research today through the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute.

What is Daffodil Month?
For the Canadian Cancer Society, the daffodil is a symbol of strength and courage, saying that there’s no giving up and that we will be victorious in the fight against cancer. Throughout the month of April, volunteers across Canada will work together to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

How can I show my support?
Show support by buying a daffodil pin often located at your local supermarkets
Volunteer your time for the Canadian Cancer Society
Spread the word through social media
Become involved in events such as Relay for Life and Golf Fore the Cure
Hold you own event!
